In 2021, the Pakistan government launched the ambitious Ehsaas Program, a nationwide initiative to reduce poverty and improve socio-economic conditions. In the years since its launch, the program has seen successes in increasing access to education, healthcare, and other social services for the nation’s most vulnerable citizens. However, two years into the program there have been growing concerns about how it’s being implemented. In this blog post we look at some of the common complaints against Ehsaas Program from 2023, and explore potential solutions for addressing them.

What is the Ehsaas Program?

The Ehsaas Program provides a range of benefits and services to its beneficiaries, including cash transfers, health insurance, educational scholarships, interest-free loans, and free housing. The Ehsaas Program is open to all Pakistani citizens who meet the eligibility criteria. To be eligible for the program, applicants must be Pakistani citizens over the age of 18 years, residing in Pakistan, and have an annual income of less than Rs. 300,000 (approximately US$2,000).
